On the eve of Ashura 2020, The Women's Mosque of America hosted a phenomenal live virtual event on "Understanding Shia & Sunni Perspectives on Ashura" with Khateebahs Anne Myers and Shabnam Dewji. From their respective perspectives as a Sunni and a Shi'a, they discussed how to achieve greater pluralism and intra-faith unity, our lost Islamic history, and the women within the Prophet Muhammad's (p) family who demonstrated how to stand up to injustice and speak truth to power -- applicable to today's Black Lives Matter movement.
